The UK Forestry Jobs Newsletter shares the best curated forestry jobs in the UK, from tree planting to director level.

Spring's warm, dry spell has brought elevated wildfire challenges to UK forests, especially now when dead winter vegetation like dry grass and brash fuels rapid fire spread. This time of year sees heightened risks across many regions, testing woodland managers and communities alike. As we go into May bank holiday season, the risks increase exponentially.

A Growing Trend with Climate Change

We're noticing more frequent and intense wildfire incidents, linked to shifting climate patterns that bring drier conditions and prolonged dry spells. Recent data shows this trend increasing, with South East England and other areas facing rising threats from these changes. 2025 was one of the worst years on record for wild fires with many of these being started carelessly or deliberately.

Current Warnings for Scotland

This week, parts of Scotland are under very high wildfire alerts due to the ongoing weather, urging extra caution for forestry work and outdoor activities. Currently Scotland has both an ‘amber’ and ‘red’ warning in place for Central and Western areas respectively. It's a stark reminder of the ongoing and seasonal pressures we're navigating in forestry 2026.

Stay safe and enjoy the sunshine.
