We’re all on a well earned break next week, so rather than leave the inbox completely quiet, here’s a short one.
Most weeks, this newsletter is about the practical stuff: new roles, changing markets, woodland creation, fires, policy, timber, machinery and the people doing the work. It can all feel quite immediate when you’re in the middle of it. There’s always another application to make, another site visit, another deadline, another forecast to keep half an eye on.
But forestry has always been a long game. A woodland planted today will look very different in five, 15 or 50 years’ time, and the work happening quietly across the sector now will matter long after this week’s headlines have moved on.
Take five if you can
So, if you get the chance over the next week, take a breather. Get out into a wood without needing to inspect it, price it, survey it or photograph it for a report. Go for a walk with the kids and leave the phone at home or in the car. The jobs, opportunities and industry noise will all still be here when we’re all back.
