Sawmill/Machine Operatives (Selby, North Yorkshire)

General wood operatives/Labourers required for long term duration – sawmill near Selby, North Yorkshire.

Emphasis will be placed on candidates showing a good attitude towards work as well as past experience and location.

This is a 3-month contract with the strong possibility of a permanent offer after 12 weeks for the right candidate.

There are also opportunities to progress to more skilled work at a higher rate after a 6-month period for candidates showing aptitude.

What you get:

Rate £8.40 per hour

A nice working environment, good hours of work and an above average rate of pay.

Hours of work: Mon/Fri 7am or 8am – 4:30pm
40-45 hours per week
Possible Sunday work may also be available.

General candidate requirements.

  • You will be physically fit and used to manual lifting.
  • Available for early mornings at all times – Hours as above.
  • You will need your own transport and not relying on others to get to site.
  • Preferable candidate requirements.

Ideal candidates would have experience of working in a manufacturing environment.

General Labourer/Wood Yard Worker, Surrey Hills Firewood Ltd (West Horseley)

A general labourer/wood yard worker is required.

Work is often in the yard but will also be out on site. Duties to include:

  • loading and unloading timber supplies by hand or using a forklift truck
  • moving and stacking timber
  • sorting and labelling wood into sizes and types
  • transferring timber to the sawmill or workshop
  • trimming the timber to size using basic cutting and sawing tools
  • updating paper and computer records
  • making deliveries
  • advising customers and processing orders

You will need full UK driving licence. A chainsaw certification is ideal but not necessarily needed as training can be given.

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Temporary

Salary: £13,000.00 to £25,000.00 /year

We are looking to recruit additional Labourers/Operators for our busy Mosstodloch sawmill. This may suit an individual who has knowledge of machinery or an interest in mechanics.

Key Skills
